Indoor Plants Bonsai

How do we know how much water is enough or too much for our plants? The overall health of our plants is determined largely by the amount receiving adequate water. If they do enough, that wither and collapse. If you get too, the roots will rot and the plant finally dies. Moreover, the needs plants changes with each new season.
Plants will notify you by certain signals, how they are doing. Therefore, it is important to look closely the signs before it is too late.
- If the leaves turn yellow, and the soil is dry, the plant is asking for water.
- If the leaves turn brown and moist, and smells sour soil is too wet.
- If the soil is kept moist, and the plant is dying, is likely to have the root rot.
When a plant has adequate moisture levels, have strong and vibrant foliage colors. The leaves are gravitating toward the light source, and usually feels cold to the touch.
Plants that lack sufficient moisture will be weak and lifeless in color, and feel warm to touch. However, they can also look like this if its roots are rotten, because they are unable to draw water.
There are some ways to test moisture level in a plant:
- The first would be to use your finger (if you do not mind the entry of land under the nails). This works best with smaller plants because you have to go approximately one third of the way down on the floor.
- Try the weight of the plant. If you can lift the plant very easily, is likely to be dry. Try to raise the same after watering the plant to judge the difference.
- Soil probes are metal or plastic rods with various notches in them that, when inserted deep into the soil, soil samples will be removed. You just feel the earth to tell how wet or dry it is. Soil dries unevenly potted plants, so you must remove soil from different areas around the plant before deciding how much to water.
- Meters Humidity will tell to what extent the humidity level is. It has a metal tube that is inserted deep into the soil. At the top of the tube is a scale that records the humidity. This is quite accurate in telling you when it's time to water, except for certain types of soils and high pH levels.
There is no way to check the moisture level of plants. Some ways are better than others in situations other than plants. Using a combination of methods to determine what works best for each plant.
Keep alert for signs that the plant gives you, and explore a bit to find the cause of any problem, and you will be able to take the right decisions irrigation.
